1. Ensure Australia's continued elite sporting success

No response

2. Better place sport and physical activity as a key component of the Government's preventative health approach

  • The popularity of Personal Trainers (PT) and Small Group Trainers (SGT) highlights the abject failure of local government and their continual misguided subsidy of traditional sport. Local government is currently hell bent on taxing and banning PT and SGT activities. Local government has it so wrong that Federal intervention is needed. The public have voted with their feet and want this type of training. The public turned their backs on participating in traditional sport years ago and this must be recognized.
  • In fact the Community has an existing infrastructure and a network of qualified Personal Trainers that could be activated to solve much of the health and fitness problems at all levels and geographical locations throughout Australia. It’s simply a waste to ignore this fantastic resource.
  • The current sports infrastructure and culture only serves as a tool for selecting potential elite athletes. Elite sports view community sport as a resource and only invest in that which will serve its immediate needs.
  • Elite sports disregard for the broad value of community sport and PT/SGT is an indictment on its views of developing key life skills, health benefits and enjoyment potential through sport therefore alienating the wider community from participation in actual physical activity.
  • Elite sports only interest in the general public is for financial support and for consumption of FAT AND LIQUIFIED SUGAR products from corporate sponsors. i.e. KFC sponsorship of elite cricket.
  • “Sport” is a political “hot potato” and closed society - protective of any outside alternatives that threaten its recruitment potential and financial future. Powerfull sports associations and clubs have exclusive ownership stadiums, resources and even of the word “Sport” therefore a stranglehold on direction, opportunities and access.
  • The sports fraternity is in breech of the fair trade act and if the government is fair dinkum about this process needs to start by holding an investigation. The solution - Non aggressive and enjoyable activities have broad appeal. Eliminating the ugly parent syndrome - a by product of aggressive competition sports.
  • Activities are based on one portion of traditional sports and known fun activities. Capacity to incorporate into existing sports training curriculum.
  • Designed to appeal to both parents and children hence building stronger families and communities.
  • Encompasses one male and one female dominated sport model.
  • Comes with all inclusive portable kits, activity cards and a template for a national rollout of this engaging activity concept.
  • Employs an extensive and growing resource. Personal Trainers (PT).
  • Insured and accredited, PT’s are well trained and experienced people motivators and managers.
  • Bridges the existing divide between council and community by making use of existing and under utilised council infrastructure.
